Three Ways to Cozy Up for Christmas

This holiday season I’ve tried to be intentional about slowing down and relaxing. If you can guess how that is going… well you’d be right. I haven’t had much down time at all but am in desperate need before the New Year kicks off! If you feel a little sluggish between holiday shopping, parties and just daily life then join me as I cozy up for Christmas. Here are three ways I plan to unwind on our holiday trip to Colorado:

  1. Get Outdoors: Denver is my hometown but growing up we hardly ever went skiing. It wasn’t until I started dating Mack that I began to truly enjoy the beautiful landscape of my home! Now every time we go back, we take to the slopes and spend a day or two skiing. The cold weather, white snow and outdoor activity always proves to be the best time. Although I would never describe myself as a super outdoorsy girl (aside from my cruiser bike rides and days on the beach), I do feel more centered when enjoying the outdoors. Being in the mountains next week will be no different and a much needed reset. And you don’t need a mountain vacation to do the same! Get outside, walk the dogs or even walk by yourself {phone FREE} to realign your mind with what matters most.
  2. Get an New Outlook: Mack and I are trying to read more and watch less TV. I recently finished this book and found it be a good, fast read with insight on social media management, personal branding and how to maneuver the workplace. Next up is Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst. Reading helps me to gain new perspective, change my attitude or simply get educated on a topic. Plus, if I read before bed, I sleep much better! Do you have any books on your reading list that you haven’t had time to get around to? The time is NOW.
  3. Get Comfortable: This past Sunday I didn’t get out of this outfit all day and it was a dream. Sometimes the best way to unwind is to simply decide that it’s a day to do just that. I believe that our wardrobe choices affect our motivation for that day. With that in mind, decide to get comfortable with a cute sweatshirt like this one from Whitewash Boutique. Usually after I have a day like this I am ready to get going the next day but we all need time do nothing. Give yourself a down day before the New Year- you deserve it!

During the most hectic time of the year, I am trying to keep my sights set on what matters most- faith and family. Because without those two things… we have nothing at all. I hope you find a way to get cozy this Christmas, recenter and remain thankful.
