Mother’s Day Gift Guide

With Mother’s Day less than a month away I thought it would be a good idea to share some gift inspiration! What better way to spoil Mom than with kitchen essentials, some cute accessories or organizational items to make her life easier. There’s nothing we can do to repay them, but spoiling them a little bit never hurts.

In honor of Mother’s Day I thought I’d share some lessons my mom instilled in me. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve truly seen the importance in these pivotal lessons and honestly wish I would’ve listened sooner (haha isn’t that always the way it happens)! I am so thankful for her, even though I am very bad at showing it at times, and the example she has always been in my life. So with that, here are some key lessons I’ve learned from her:

Always, always be nice: My mom is the picture of patience, kindness and forgiveness. Everyone who knows her will tell you that she’s the sweetest lady they’ve ever met. I literally don’t know HOW she does it. I try so hard to be like her but find myself falling short (especially in the patience department). Whenever I feel myself about to react in an annoyed or irritated manner, I literally think to myself, “channel your inner Carolyn.”

Business is business: In times when I am oversensitive, my mom is always there to remind me, “business is business.” I can’t tell you how many times she repeats this to me! When I get easily offended about something work related, I beat myself up about it so much and think I am a total failure. In those moments, I get the simple reminder of business is business from her- constructive criticism doesn’t mean you’ve failed- it just means improve upon it next time. She’s always there to affirm the fact that beating myself up won’t help and that ultimately #businessisbusiness. Not to mention, she’s a total #bosslady who works nonstop and is very successful at what she does!

Take care of your skin: Flash back to two minutes ago when I said I wish I’d listened to her…. case and point, right here! I religiously wear sunscreen daily and a giant hat to the beach now but it hasn’t always been that way. If I could tell my high school self one thing it would be, “step away from the tanning bed.” OH wait, someone did tell me but I didn’t listen. For the record, you were right Mom!

I know how truly blessed I am to have a mom like mine! No matter what I need; she will send a package, book me a flight or simply be there if she can. My older brother and I are everything to her and it’s a comforting feeling to know that someone on this earth loves you that much. Like I said before, there’s no way to ever repay her and she surely deserves more than what’s on my list above, but it’s a start!

What’s on your list for mom this year? Let me know in the comments below!
