I hope everyone is having a great week so far! It’s time for another edition of my Let’s Get Local series. This month, I am excited to highlight Vanessa Poch, owner of The Vintage Peony. I stopped by her boutique last month and oh. my. gosh! You guys, it’s the cutest shop ever! If you’re into the shabby chic, Fixer Upper style for decor and gifts- this is your haven! The Vintage Peony features seasonal decor, quintessential southern touches for your home, wedding gifts, cheeky baking goods, and soaps that make the entire space smell like a spa. It’s so lovely! I had the opportunity to sit down with Vanessa and learn about what inspired her to start this precious coastal gift boutique. Here’s what she had to say:
C: What inspired you to open The Vintage Peony?
V: I was inspired to open The Vintage Peony due to my love of retail and design. Furthermore, I wanted to provide the local area with a unique gift boutique.
C: Who or what do you look to for decor inspiration? (The store’s decor is adorable!)
V: I love adventure and travel to new places! I take inspiration from traveling all over Europe and always try to implement some ideas and decor based on places I’ve been.
C: When curating the store’s collection- how do you select specific items you carry?
V: I start by selecting a theme for the store. Then I search for unique items that will compliment and add to the overall look and feel of the boutique until I feel that the theme has been curated appropriately.
C: Describe your design style in 15 words or less.
V: My design style is a combination of vintage and coastal pieces with personal touches throughout, that reflect personality and creative flair.
C: What are your top three suggestions for gifts this holiday season?
V: A customized selection of bath an body products, a vintage lace scarf paired with a great clutch or a scented coastal wreath with matching seashell potpourri.
C: What is your favorite part about living on the Emerald Coast?
V: I love the white sand beaches, emerald waters and the bright, happy sunny days!
C: What’s your Starbucks order?
V: Grande chai tea latte, low fat, no water, and an extra pump of chai, ha!
C: Words of advice, wisdom or encouragement for other boutique owners near and far?
V: Follow your dream of owning your own business, stay true to your ideals, work hard to make improvements where they are needed but most importantly, enjoy it!
C: If you were cast on the Real Housewives, what would your intro tagline be?
V: You can’t discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.
After visiting, I knew I had to share her shop with other locals and beyond because she has the best gifts just in time for the holiday season! Better yet, Vanessa and I teamed up and can’t wait to giveaway these four mini- Mistral soaps. I wish there was a way that I could have you smell them through this computer screen… I had them in my car for one hour and my car smelled amazing. These make the most adorable little stocking stuffers for any ladies on your list! To enter, simply follow both accounts on Instagram (@thevintage.peony and @littlemrsparticular), like the photo and tag three friends in the comment section of the original post on my insta which is going live at 10am today!
