As the seasonal Florida temperatures began to show their true colors leading up to my departure for the holidays, I found myself in need of the perfect sweater dress. But the fluctuating temperatures left this girl confused. One day it was in the 40’s and freezing and the next it was back up to the 70’s and as humid as a summer day. What do I have to do to get some #sweaterweather to stick around? Well be careful what you wish for, right? I am now at home in Colorado and was greeted by a temperature of -8 when I stepped off that plane. That’s right… NEGATIVE 8. Imagine how Rebel and Tiger felt when that air hit them in their little airplane carriers while running to my Dad’s car when he picked us up. If they could talk I am sure they’d say, “I don’t think we’re in Florida anymore.”
As an avid Amazon Prime abuser… I mean user, I went there first to see if I could find a suitable sweater dress. I needed one to accommodate the irregular winter temperatures of Florida but also pack for my stay in Colorado. This BB Dakota sweater dress caught my eye and I ordered it on the spot. I am so glad I did! I love the neutral color (it also comes in black and I just may have to gift it to myself after Christmas… people do that, right?), the fact that it’s warm, features a cowl neck and is the appropriate dress length. There’s nothing worse than questioning if a sweater is in fact a dress or just long enough to be a dress. There is no question with this one! In Florida, it was great for the weather that seemed to never stabilize and in Denver it’s perfect when layered with a long sleeve shirt, tights and booties. Also it looks so cute layered under my black winter jacket (similar jacket here) and my fur ball hat that literally hasn’t left my head.
Although I planned to wear this Winter Red dress to our Christmas church service, I may opt for this sweater option to keep warm instead. These red booties still align with my Winter Red obsession and are just so cute with their scalloped edge. These booties perfectly match my freezing nose that has been a shade of red since arriving in the Rocky Mountains. It’s like I’ve been spoiled living in Florida for the past year or something haha.
With Christmas just five days away, I am so happy to be home with all of my family and of course, the puppies. It’s been fun but busy so far and I am enjoying my time at home to unwind. With the idea of relaxing over the holidays in mind (once Christmas concludes), this is going to be my final blog post of 2016! I’ve decided that I want to take the next several days off to truly relax with my family. What a year it has been! As always, I love sharing the details of my daily life with each of you and will continue to post on Instagram over my “Christmas Break,” so keep up with me there. Rest assured, I will continue my normal post schedule on Monday, January 2nd. That’s right, the same day as The Bachelor Premiere. I am not a Nick fan but you know I am still going to watch! Who else is in this same boat?
Wishing you and your family the best holiday week! I am thankful for each of you and never take for granted the time you spend connecting with me through my blog. See you in 2017!
