Wedding Season with Frock Swap

May 6, 2016

Dress: Ted Baker via Frock Swap | Shoes: LC Lauren Conrad (similar) | Clutch: Stella & Dot

Today marks our eleven month wedding anniversary! I can’t believe it’s almost been an entire year since Mack and I said, “I do!” I remember it more clearly than yesterday and know the memories and feelings surrounding that day will be something I cherish forever. Although our wedding day was undoubtedly the best day of my life, I find that I am so lucky to be Mack’s wife each and every day. It doesn’t matter if we are binge watching The Blacklist (I know, it’s kinda scary but addicting!) or attending a friend’s wedding… we are happy to just be! Six months after our wedding, Mack’s older sister got married in Texas. I have to tell you, Mack and I had the BEST time! The first wedding you attend as Mr. & Mrs. is so much fun because you are still giddy and get all the wedding feels but you have NONE of the stress or excited nerves. We are looking forward to more fun in the coming months as we attend a number of weddings for our dear friends! By April our entire refrigerator was flooded with Save the Dates and wedding invitations. And once June hits, it’s clear that our wedding season is in full-swing through October!

Because weddings are so highly photographed, I find myself struggling to find something new to wear to each occasion. Take into the account the varying dress codes, locations and accessories and I always have myself a real issue- I know you all can relate! Regardless, there are three rules I stick to when dressing for a wedding. First, be sure to dress conservatively. Always remember that weddings are a family event. Therefore, if you wouldn’t wear it in front of your grandmother, don’t wear it to a wedding! Next, when in doubt, overdress! Wedding dress codes can be tricky- even ours was questioned quite a bit. But here is a cheat sheet if you ever do run into a question. Regardless, at a wedding (or in life really) it’s always better to be overdressed. I think we’ve all been in an underdressed situation and probably learned our lesson. I know I have! Finally, and most importantly, don’t wear white (or even cream for that matter). Let the bride have her day! I know that this is an unspoken rule, but I am speaking it. It’s old fashioned but I see it as respecting the bride on her big day! If I stick to these rules, I find myself most comfortable in my attire as a wedding guest.

Now, it’s no secret that I love to shop consignment but going to the stores can be very hit or miss. Luckily, I recently discovered Frock Swap. I am in heaven every time I click from page to page because it focuses on designer consignment specifically for dresses. The dress photographed above is Ted Baker and I received it brand new with the tags still attached, but at a price much less! I am obsessed with this dress and know I am covered for at least one summer soiree. I check back often as the inventory is always updating- there is even a Chanel sequin dress that is to die for! There are endless options that fit the bill and cover my three rules of dressing for a wedding! Once all of our RSVP’s are sent, I am going to plan my outfits with a some much needed help from Frock Swap. I know you all will love it too, check out all the fun frocks here.

Wishing you the best wedding season! Are there any wedding attire rules that you live by? If so, post them below! I would love to hear!

Thank you so much for spending a few minutes of your day with me.
